Making a trip to Vegas, could someone suggest the
best place to play a small NL game? Last time out
I played once at the Luxor ($50 buyin, 1-1-2 blinds)
for a couple hours, but that was all the time I had.

Thanks! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The Luxor has the best $50 minimum buy-in NLH game in Vegas.

In fact, the Luxor may be the only $50 minimum buy-in game now. I think there was another room with $50 minimum, but I can't remember which one, and I can't seem to find it in my records.

The next step up in the minimum buy-ins is to $100, and there are quite a few rooms where this is the minimum (Excalibur, Flamingo come to mind).

Is the Luxor NL game a $50 min/max game similiar to the
$100 min/max game at the Excalibar, or is it $50 min
with a higher max similiar to the Flamingo and others?

thx

$50 min/max -- like Excalibur.

It's worth noting that the minute your chipstack falls under $50 (say, to $49 for example), then you can immediately buy-in for another $50 -- So, it's possible to basically buy-in for $99 -- and quite a few people do this.

I like the game at the horse shoe.

$50 min/max. Last time there, you could not buy to
more than $50.

I was just in Vegas last weekend and played the Excalibur game on Sat night. It is like absolutely nothign i have ever seen in my life. 4-5 people in EVERY pot, calling ANY raise. it was as if you took the worst from a 3-6 game and stuck them there. the good: if you hit a hand you could be expected to be paid off BIG. the bad: if your cards are cold you can absolutely not make any plays, semibluffs, or anything of the sort, you're just screwed: you have to show the best hand to win. but the next night i played, Sun, it was a completely different game.

You've never seen 4-5 in every pot and you're playing low limit. ROFLMAO, welcome to Vegas bub. It's like that, just not that little amount of people in pots, usually like 5-7 in every pot with no folds to the river. Typical of low limit out here in the desert.

Regularly 5-7 in every pot with no folds to the river in a no-limit game? I just can't believe that. Now I'm even more anxious to get out there (have a trip planned for Nov.)

Aye, come play at the Excalibur or the Luxor, it's basically a 2/4 game. Someone can go all in with AA for 225.00, get 2 calls with rags and get smacked.

no, being from arizona and playing at the casinos here quite frequently, im very used to seeing this number of callers on a Limit game...but there is the first time ive played a Live NL Ring game, and I was completely suprised that someone would raise 4xBB and get 4-5 callers (calling with mostly rags) as if it were a 3-6 limit game, and then someone would bet around the pot and get...3-4 callers. i just wish i had the run of cards i had the following night this night, because i wouldve stood to win a small fortune.

I've been doing fairly well at the 1/2 blind $100 max buy-in NL game at Foxwoods and, though the play is generally awful, you just don't see that many people going all the way to the river. You get a lot of family flops but a pot-sized bet will usually get you down to 2 or 3 tops from there. I'll be staying at the Luxor-- if the game is that juicy there, I might never leave the hotel /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
