I think so, with no reads on the player, im putting him on middle poket pair. That is exactly how I would play 99 or TT. You slowed him down enough to get a free showdown, and now you have your read..

But I think 3 betting on flop is pretty aggresive. If he bets into you on turn, are you calling?

I would have called the flop raise. You checked behind on the turn and he checks to you on the river? That might signal no pair.
