Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 4 handed)

Opponent seemed Tight-Aggr, based on too few hands.

Hero bets, UTG calls.

Turn: (3.20 BB) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)

River: (5.20 BB) 4/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)

mmm I think HU in this situation you should've bet the turn if you were going to call anyway since you bet the flop then checked the turn on a blank it shows way too much weakness HU since you definently won't check top pair or middle pair on the turn HU and screams your drawing.

If not here, then when does the oft-said "Check with outs, bet with no outs" apply?

I think check/raising the flop and leading the turn is good against one opponent, but check calling the flop and turn isn't bad either. I wouldn't go half way like you did though, especially because this flop bet will get raised alot of the time so you might as well check-raise.

mix it up. sometimes check/call. sometimes check/raise. sometimes bet out. if you fall into patterns of just betting all the time, or check/calling always, some opponents will pick this up.

you could also check/call the flop and check/raise the turn as a semi-bluff.

cheers!
