No read. I put him on a spade draw, until his turn call and on the river I wasn't going to fold so...

Why do you want to re-raise with this hand, especially out of position? You're building the pot up to the point where you'd better hope he's on a spade draw or you're getting stacked w/top pair 2nd kicker. If he has 66 or 99 or whatever, you're gonna lose some money but it doesnt have to be your entire stack.

I agree that the preflop raise should not have been made. As far as the postflop play...?

For what its worth he had 66. My position really hindered me here.

Ya, if you had just called, you can lead out on the flop, or check-raise, at which point he will most likely raise or re-raise and give you the opportunity to make a good fold. I just really dont like these sort of situations out of position, b/c you feel a bit exposed. You dont want to give free cards to a draw or check and let him push you off the hand, but if you happen to be behind you're gonna double him up by betting the whole way. Given that you did re-raise, I dont see you getting out of this pickle, just bad luck to be out of position, flop top pair and have him flop something bigger.
