Ok, so I am coming down to my decision on what I am going to do, and I think I am going to go with pokerchips.com. I am hoping I dont run into the horror that others have posted here, but I am really impressed with the quality of their chip and the customization available for such a low price.

I am thinking of going with a 500 chip set, with just 3 different colors.

200 - Green with Dayglow Arc Yellow edge spots
200 - Blue with Dayglow Orange edge spots
100 - Black with Dayglow Green edge spots

I am flopping between the green with arc yellow spots or the Mandarin Red with Dayglow Yellow spots (or Arc Yellow)...still deciding.

(Can ya tell I like dayglow edge spots? Heh)

A link to their color chart here :

What do you guys think?

I know this is all personal preference and completely up to me, but I am just throwing it out there to see what everyone would think of a set like this.

Thanks!

I've just ordered a set from pokerchips.com - red, green and black, 100 of each. Went for red rather than mandarin red cos I've seen some photos where the mandarin red looks a bit garish ... but then I'm not one for day glow edge spots either! I went for blue, purple and red spots respectively. Tried to follow standard casino colours as best I could, so reds are 5 or 500, greens are 25 and blacks are 1 or 100 depending on the stakes.

I just ordered from them(horsehead mold).

160 Blue/White, 90 Red/Arc Yellow, 50 Green/DG Pink

Why 200, 200, 100? I ordered like that in the past and it was a mistake, I think you always need a ton of one denom, and then lower and lower as you go up in denoms.

200/200/100 is a great ratio for mid-sized home tournaments in my experience. It also works OK for ring games.

What were you using your 200/200/100 set for?

In general we would be doing small (6 person) home tournaments and ring games.

In the small home tournaments, I would probably modify Lederer's recommendation of tourny chips and make it 1500 in chips. 10 100s and 20 25s.

With ring games, 3 denoms should be plenty and with only about 6 people playing it would be sufficient.

If the need should ever arise where I would need more then the 3 different colors from this set, I have a cheap super diamond set of 500 with 4 different colors in it that I could break out. The need for that though would be few and very far between.

So for what I will be using it for, the 200/200/100 would be perfect.

I think I have finalized what I want also. I believe I will go with :

200 Mandarin Red with Arc Yellow
200 Purple with Dayglow Green
100 Black with Dayglow Pink

I think I would like those combos the best.

Thanks for all the input also =)

THey told me 3 months, im expecting about 4 (Which is what your wait was).

The wait doesnt bother me really.

I am getting the horsehead mold with the quantities and colors I listed above.

I flip flopped for a while on whether or not to get the pokerchips.com chips or the NJ chips. Eventually the pokerchips.com chips won out due to customization and the price being better. I like both chips, so it was a toss up.

At least this way I have my own, custom chips of sorts. I wasnt a big fan of the denoms, which makes this even better.

Yeah, the day glo looks great in contrast. However, they do not use the brass fillings in the day glo colors. So you will have the glitter effect on the side of the chip but not the edge spot.

If you can get the color contrast you want, going with a non-day-glo edge spot will keep that look from the brass filling more uniform around the rim.
