he raised preflop so i figured he had high cards. i had overcards and a much bigger stack. we were near the money too so i thought everyone would play tighter. bad play?

I think the question you need to ask yourself here is "what high cards do I put him on?" I certainly don't think that your call pre-flop is horrible, but to call his all-in post flop you are banking on him holding K10 or worse, which I think is pretty much at the bottom of the range of hands he is likely to be holding.

Also. even if everyone were indeed playing tighter being near the money, you are calling his all-in, so tightness at that point is moot.

So yes, I would rate your post-flop call as a bad play, but certainly one that can be learned from. Believe me, I have plenty of those myself.

nonono, my 2450 bet put him all in.

Sorry, I misread that. But I still think you need to ask yourself what range of hands he's likely to be holding.

I will say that your putting him all-in is not nearly as bad a play as calling an all-in under the same circumstances, but you do have to figure that if you're called, you're beat.

yeah, i figured i was beat if he called. i put him on two overcards. i didn't think he'd put his entire stack at risk on ace high.

Hey Kuro. I should have known you were a 2+2er. You were one of the strongest players there in my opinion. I have to admit I was not sad to see you go /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

The reason I don't like it is that you had a really loose aggressive image (and I mean loose as in relative to the rest of the table). It wouldn't be unreasonable for the other guy to put you on a steal after all the semi-bluffing you had been doing.

Still, it's a tough call by the other guy. In the few hands I had played against him he had shown a willingness to play back at my raises, even though I was much bigger than him at the time. After that I pretty much stayed out of his way. Did you have any hands with him previously?

Oh, and on the play where I pushed all in on the river, I had AK for TPTK. You were dead on with your read. I'm glad you mentioned it because you were right that it was a horrible value bet. After that I was much more selective about my river bets.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I think I would've placed much higher than I did but I wanted to go to bed so after I got in the money I just started going all-in every hand. The payout is crap for anyone not in the top 8 or so. I figured hey, if I can win a bunch of blinds or my all-ins and be in great position to win the tournament or I go to bed.
