View Full Version : differing structure for various poker game

Hi,

this may be a dumb question, and not sure if this is the proper forum for it, but i am curious. What is the reason that certain structures are popular for some poker variants and not others. specifically, there's basically three different structures - limit, pot-limit, and no-limit. it seems that for hold'em, limit and no-limit is quite popular but pot-limit is pretty rare. for omaha (hi or hi-lo), limit and pot-limit are popular but no-limit is rare. and for 7 stud (regular or hi-lo) you almost never see pot-limit or no-limit. this is according to my limited information (ive played at foxwoods and Atlantic City and online at paradise and pokerstars. also looking at the events played at the major tournaments) and may be off base. but if this is true, what is the reason for this pattern? i have some ideas but would like to hear the expert view /images/smile.gif
