Well, I did fold, but I think this could have been a desperation all-in with 2 big cards - which would make me a 60% favorite while getting even money - and I was only 11X BB. That's why I thought about calling him.

you need to change the way you are thinking a little bit. you were thinking about types of hands he could have had....and yes he could have had two paints and be desperate. You need to put this player on a range of hands, so while two paints are in that range, so are all pocket pairs and all aces. you need to think about how you will do against all of those hands combined, not just the specific subset of the group that you hope he has.

its very bad to fall in that line of thinking. "this guy is obviously stealing so I am going to pick him off with my A4 or pocket 22".

Great post. Limiting your thoughts to only the range of hands you're ahead of, is a big mistake.

I don't disagree with looking at the range of possibilities as long as your decision is based on EV (mostly) and not worst case scenario.
