Im wondering, how many BBs does everyone normally buy in for in a limit game? For a long time while first playing 3/6 I would buy in for 60$ (10BB) while having more cash in my pocket for more buy ins if needed.

However, I never really thought about people playing you differently based on your amount of chips until now that I have been playing a lot. I have been playing mainly online where I now buy in for 25BBs .

When I most recently went to the local casino I played in the 6/12 game and bought in for a rack of 2$s which is 16bbs. Im planning on playing in 10/20 and possibly higher soon and Im wondering what type of buy ins I should be making in these games as to not appear to be playing with scared money.

Thanks for the input.

You are going to be playing 10/20 soon and you dont know how much to buy in for??? Can you tell me when and where you plan on playing /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

buy-in for 25BBs and reload if you drops below 12BBs. if the place allows unlimited raises then keep a deeper stack in case that rare op comes up with a maniac who wants to put in 20 bets on the river with the 2nd nuts.

10 bb just isn't enough. I agree with the 25bb advice given earlier.

Be familiar with the "cash plays" rules where you are playing. Often at low limits I'll buy-in a little light (15-20 BBs), but put a 100 or two on the table just in case I get off to a bad start or someone wants to go crazy heads-up.

I usually buy in for 25 BB and try to have at least that much at the ready. If I'm playing $6/12 I usually buy in for $300. At $8/16, $400-500. For $15/30, my usual buy-in is $800. If I'm playing $30/60, I usually buy in for $2000. I just feel more comfortable with a bunch of chips in front of me.
