Like grey was supposed to be the new black?

I think that calling is severely under-estimated.

Like raising used to be the play that would suggest extreme strength and strike fear into the hearts of your opponents.

Now, flat-calling accomplishes that.

no way, pink is the new black.

Bluff-calling is by the far the most powerful move in poker. And it's not close.

Agree 100 percent...call flop, call turn, pure bluff for a medium amount might be the most intimidating play you can make....its also the ballsiest.

A friend and I were in a conversation about the merits of the flat call bluff for a long time and decided it is an extremely powerful play but that if you get in the habbit of doing it too much you find out that you really get an image at the table that wont help you make any money.

Bluff-calling is calling the flop/turn bets and then betting out on the river? Heh, I didn't know the specialized term existed. OOPS.

Nonono, I think Cosimo means bluff-calling the river. Clearly that's when it works best.

Ah, the genius was beyond me. Back to penny-ante games until I learn the power of the bluff-call.

I only bluff call the river. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Actually, with position, calling with nothing on the flop is scary as hell for your opponent (except when he has a monster). I think calling the flop and betting the turn when checked to, or making a smallish raise when the opponent makes an underbet (with the intention of bluffing if checked to on the river) are +EV plays regardless of what you hold.

(Obviously this is only for PL/NL. It is harder to bluff call in limit, though not impossible.)

Judging by your avatar, if either pink or gray are the new black, then you're black as Kanye West

I've noticed a lot of my opponents on Party doing this recently.
