Well, I took out my bankroll to go to Mexico, and now I've decided that, rather than wait until I can just replenish it, I'm going to do a little exercise in discipline and work it back up, starting with 100BB at .5/1.

I'm also going to try to post a lot of hands as I do so. I'm a little rusty.

I think you can bet this river--BB is probably on a flush draw.
Raising somewhere to force CO out (with such a vulnerable hand) doesn't seem like a bad idea either. I'm unsure whether the flop or the turn is the better spot.
Regardless, welcome back from Mexico!

Flush draw was one possibility here. But a flush draw won't call me. That's the trouble - I can see getting check-raised on the flop, led into on the turn, and still having a better hand. Trouble is, I don't see getting checked to on the river and getting paid by a worse hand often enough, especially with CO coming along. Too much credit? I dunno.

I wondered about 3-betting the flop but decided against it.

Thanks. Look for "Ravaging the Riviera" out on DVD sometime this fall.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for that DVD in the fall. Your logic is sound. What about this hand seemed wrong?

I didn't think anything was necessarily wrong; I felt ok about it.

I thought it was interesting to check out if there was a value bet here, given one player calling along (CO) who is likely donating unless he hit his draw, one player (BB) who could either be beating me or losing badly, etc. My conclusion was that I was likely to get raised too often and not paid off enough, and that it was even possible that one or both was being passive with a better hand.

Yeah, fair enough. If you were leading the action it would be different, but I wouldn't be surprised to see AJ or KJ wussing out on this river.
