Because I'm in college, I don't have Showtime, so I needed to feed my Dave Chappelle addiction by downloading his Showtime special on LimeWire.

Anyway, 300 MB and a few hours later, I try to play it and this comes up:

"You may experience problems playing a video track in "dave.chappelle.for.what.its.worth.pdtv-pyro.avi" because the required compressor could not be found [...]"

I'm on Mac running OS X version 10.3.5 with QuickTime Pro... Does anyone know what plugin or "compressor" I need to watch this? I heard it was hilarious! Help!

No Problem. Since it is an .avi file you are dealing with, it probably (90%?) requires the DivX codec (www.divx.com). Download the DivX 5.2 codec for Mac OS X and install/restart. Then play through QuickTime.
