What is a reasonable goal to have as a BB/100 rate as a beginner? I play mostly party .5/1.

As a beginner a good goal is to have a positive number. Really I mean it. Just by doing that you will be doing better than 95% of the players out there and probably better than half of the people who look at this board.

As you pick up an understanding of the game you can then worry about "is 1.8BB per hour good at 5/10 hold'em?"
