check, bet, call

turn is an 8

he checks, normal play here?

I agree with sthief.

In HEFAP, Sklansky and Malmuth say to ignore the top card when you are heads-up. So, by ignoring the A, you hold a dominant overpair and it is clearly correct to bet it out.

Obviously your situation is slightly different because your villain called preflop at a multi-handed table (so he presumably has a better hand than in a tournament-ending heads-up scenario), but this advice is still correct until he shows aggression. In your case, he has been extremely weak so far.

this only has to do with headsup play. this is not headsup play. it's just a headsup pot. regardless, you don't put a loose player on an A.
