View Full Version : Great Quote from Negreanu

This was a quote from CP magazine that I found to be humorous. Though I know Dan was joking but this may be the actual thought process from some of the fish on party.

"I raised from first position with 10s 7s, My favorite hand is actually 10 7 offsuit (that way I can hit two flushes)..."

Just thought it was funny.

I'm sure he was kidding, but also not kidding at the same time. From watching Dan on TV and reading his stuff online, I think that he has such great imagination with cards that he can actually pull this [censored] off. I love watching him play.

Something about AKo being better than AKs because it could make two flushes?

Negreanu has called T7o his "favorite hand" many times, not just in that one article.

T5o is even better because every straight has a Ten or a Five!

There is some dead money in our home game who has this retarded "minion hand" theory.

He raises in early position with junk like K5o. So one time, I asked him "why do you do this crap" because maybe he had some brilliant theory.

Here's what he says:
Well, you see, with the King or the Five, I can make either a high or a low straight.

I just pointed and laughed. Even though time, and time again, he finishes in last place in our tourneys, and constantly gets involved in hands where he's dominated (I.E. outkicked), he continues to try this [censored].

I prefer AAo as you can make two different nut flushes with it.

I was playing against a guy in foxwoods a couple of months ago who claimed that he's never lost a hand with T7. So a couple of hands later, I was dealt T7o on the button and played it for sh*ts and giggles. Of course, I end up winning the hand with 7s full of Ts and the guy is like "I told you so!"
As I was telling my buddies this story in our home game, my friend won the very next hand with a 7T. As a result, that hand has reached mythic proportions at my weekly game. So maybe there is something to it after all...

crazy topic, on the final table in my home poker game and a guy raised and i was last to act, all had folded before me, so I called so I wouldnt give himn the free pot.... with T7o. Flop comes 7J7. He bets 150 ( 1/6) chip stack, I call and raise and it ends up that I win the pot with trips over his JA.

Seems to me K5o is dominated as much by K6-Ao as it is by A5o. His only saving grace is if he catches that five, or the board gets enough high cards to warrant a split (and with a high enough opponent's kicker to the king, this sort of split won't happen). Of course, he can also hope for a board of KAAAx or similar.

T7 has been my sentimental favorite hand for a year or so. I hate folding it, but I also hate calling with it /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe the next time you play it will be the second time TT7 flops

it wouldn't be the first time. I am just glad to know that Negraneu thinks along my lines in regards to poker. Watch out everyone, you shall soon me on WPT final tables with ugly jerseys and an ambigious ear ring.
