once he smooth called my pot bet on the flop, i obviously slowed down. should i have bet less or more at any time during the hand?

Raise more preflop. This is a systematic error on the tables you are playing. I have seen it in several of your posts and it is creating the situations you post here.

Would he raise preflop with hands that are likely to be helped with that flop? I think you should have pushed more on the turn
