why not raise flop?he could three bet many hands but only likely hands your behind are AA,KK,AK. I think you must raise to protect your hand...

I wasn't terribly scared of being behind (maybe 40% chance), but I'd rather not give QQ/JJ/TT any reason to fold immediately. I think my play was fine if there hadn't been the 3rd person involved. With the third person I'm not sure. If there had been even more callers I probably would have raised the turn.

raising the flop gives a worse hand a chance to make a more informed fold on the turn, or allows a better hand to get more bets in. The 3rd player does complicate matters.

I assume you were planning on raising the river if the A didn't fall?

I think you played it well. You're letting a worse hand keep on taking a stab at it without letting him know that he's behind. I would have done exactly the same and bet the river if there's no A and he checks to me.

It shocks me how many 2+2ers keep on saying 'this way you aren't allowing a worse hand to fold' when was the last time any of you saw an sb 3 bet fold for 1sb on the flop or drop on the turn? Or when was the last time any of you fold QQ if you were the SB here against an unknown? When 15 players 3 bet they go to showdown every single time.

This is too conservative an approach against a typical player in this game. You have to raise somewhere; if it was going to be the river than I don't begrudge you for bailing when the scare cards hits, but you have to raise somewhere.

Are you going to showdown with AQ/AJ/QJs? Or is your contention that a player who 3-bets with those hands preflop is not going to fold on later streets no matter what?

I don't think i've ever 3 bet those hands in the sb vs a utg player.

are you using your play as a proxy for the "standard" 15 player?
