Cash tournament where the cash you bring are your chips. Entrance 5,000,000 I have 7.5 mil in chips.

I'm dealt Q-Q in the BB and blinds are $10-$20. All fold to MP who raises to $60 and I call. Flop is Q-7-7. I bet $120 and MP raises all in for 8 million.

He also comments "Look Punk I just put 1 of my islands in the pot." What play do you make?

If you are seriously looking for an answer, maybe it's time to quit poker. You have the top full house. If the blinds are only 10-20, how do you have 5 mil in chips? Note: Stick to play money.

I faced the exact same situation yesterday

Unless you have seen Bill Gates pissing through his Millions this is an easy fold in case he has 77 - the odds aint worth it. Let's say it is your last 5MMM and your last castle island. Not worth blowing. I miss MY island

LOL 1st you have no sense of humour. Second, OK let's do the math.

What are the odds he randomly has 77?

(2 / 47) * (1 / 46) = 1 / 1081

(at least something like that). So there is a one in a thousand chance he has you beat (disregarding reads, Bayes, etc.). I won't bother doing the pod odds math cause it ain't even close. FOLD.

Now, to continue with the poker content, let's assume this guy has a clue. No fool would bet 8 million into a tiny pot without the nuts. So if we use Bayes theorem there is a far better chance that he has 77.

My god this wasn't even close.

Although I was really just joking in response to Punk's post - I would of course fold. No wonder he has an island and you don't.

he would need a better than 50% chance of having 77 to make this incorrect EV wise.

just sayin' /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

YOu buy in for $5mil with $10/$20 blinds. Nothing like the warm blanket of 250,000BBs to start. Where do you put all of your chips?

The play I make is fold, then color up, and get the hell out of this silly theoretical game.

Otherwise, before answering I need to know how much are you worth (or what's your bankroll) and how often do you play this game?

I ask the floor person if I can Double Down for the Next card and hope its a Q. Oh wait wrong game, Fold.

Wait for a better spot.

You could ask him if the island in the pot is under hurricane watch to try to get a tell out of him, but basically people only get invited to these games if they are going to be cheated out of their islands, castles and wenches.

To be honest, croquet is a much more refined game and you should be learning that, I fear for your peasants if you don't go careful on the gambling.

So, what read did you have on MP that kept you from re-raising pre-flop with 375,000 big blinds in your stack?

After hours of math, i came up with the result:

Its +EV to bluff here and hope to take his island. Even if you lose you can just build an home with all the chips you have left over

Your best bet is to call and spike a Q.

And I wouldn't call unless he throws an Elephant in the pot upon which you can ride around the island.

Ok, this is a simple call. He raised 60 preflop, three times the big blind. Almost as if he'll take a caller, but doesnt necessarily want a caller. But he gets one. Maybe a hand like Ax suited. Bam, flop comes Q 7 7. Either giving him two pair or trips w/ Ace kicker for both. Now he goes all in, which at the flop is typically a move to protect the hand meaning he likely feels that it's vulnerable. Most likely he has a five card hand of A Q Q 7 7 and wants to keep it, assuming you have high cards and maybe even AK. He doesnt put you on a QQ, KK or AA and definitely doesnt put you on a Q w/ a power kicker b/c you might have raised before him. He puts up the wall in order to steal that 60 dollar call, but what he doesnt know is that he just screwed himself realizing you have the second best nuts in this hand, a hand he could have sworn you wouldnt have had. CALL
