I need to learn when and how to raise pre-flop when heads up. I basically have no clue when to do it. Here are just a few questions or considerations I wonder about?

What type of hands?
How often?
What about when I'm the big stack? What about when I'm the short stack?
Why do so many people min raise pre-flop when heads up?
How do you adjust strategy when facing a LAG? Or a tight player?
What about based on position?

I'd love to hear your strategy.

Disclaimer: I only play $10+1 on Party, so this obviously does not apply to good players.

I *always* raise HU, either 2xBB or 3xBB until I am sure my opponent doesn't fold enough. An incredible amount of people do fold more than half the time, in which case this is easily enough to win the HU confrontation.

And for the few opponents who do not fold enough, this strategy will make you shortstacked before you realize it... /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I push when what I have remaining is less than 6xBB which means I virtually always push postflop - it's rare for both me and my opponent to have 6+BB after the flop late in a tourney.
