I think all of us here at 2+2 should say thank you to Paul P. for posting here.

He has nothing but insightful, well thought out, and informative things to say and is an unbelievable asset to this forum and poker community.

Anyway thanks for posting and making this a better place to visit everyday.

cheers--J.Brown

but just so we're clear -

if his migration here brings all the RGP trolls to follow, I'm gonna take him and put him in a burning wicker man to sacrifice to appease the gods and drive away the demons...

just so we're clear

I've only seen him on TV a few times, but I like how they try to show him bluffing vs. Phil Laak in the promos for the website - and if you look closely they have different chips from different casinos in front of them....LOL

Dude, if you haven't noticed the trolls have migrating in flocks prior to the arrival of Paul Phillips.

But, I do want to also thank Paul, Barry, Annie Duke and any others that offer their valuable insight to these forums.

Paul is a funny guy, he has guts to say things publicly that most pros would never dream of, I'm glad he is here.

I won't lie to you (and it's no secret anyway) I have mixed feelings about posting here. I happened to have some bored writing time the last few days and threw some of it this way. I stopped posting to rgp because I had begun drawing the attention of that unfortunate brand of lowlife which is not satisfied with drooling a few insults. Living with a high profile is not always fair -- it only takes one or two determined worms to cause anyone difficulties.

I left rgp because that swung the good/bad ratio past the fulcrum point, and I'll admit that it was going downhill fast then and it's as lame now as it's ever been in its entire existence. Still, I much prefer rgp-as-it-once-was to twoplustwo-as-it-is for a lot of reasons, some philosophical (e.g. I don't like moderation without accountability), some practical (e.g. the twoplustwo interface is horrible compared to a good usenet client).

My blog (http://extempore.livejournal.com/) will remain my primary outlet, but I'll probably keep posting here sometimes as long as I don't run afoul of the eye in the sky. If they ever yank one of my posts, it's the door for me.

Paul Phillips is a condescending prick, I don't care if he never posts on here again...

F-you bud. An opinion like that should be kept to yourself. Is he hurting you by posting here? Paul this moron is in the minority. Thanks again.

Paul,

I just gotta say thanks for even sharing your blog (and your 18 posts). It's always nice to delve into the minds of the more successful business and poker minds, yours being no different.

And I really do mean that, too. It puts a face and a smile on guys you look up to on posters and TV commercials. Up-and-comers like me really appreciate that. It helps grow the game.

He's a world class player and I would never doubt his talent at poker. That doesn't change the fact that he comes across as pompus and some of the posts he has written have been critical of people posting on here (who are also entitled to their opinion). If he is going to post on here, he should at least post some in the MTT area, you know the real reason people come to 2+2. Even Annie Duke, who is disliked by a lot of people, posts strategy on here and doesn't just state her feelings on certain peoples actions or her philosophy on life.

well, if you consider Barry G. and Annie D. to be good company, then you've come to the right place. We also got some guy named Greg Raymer who posts on here and talks about how big he's gonna be someday in the world of poker....best of luck to him. (he'll need it with those freaky glasses he wears)

Hell, I got nothing against you, but then, I just lost my IT job and am sucking up to everyone these days again. LOL

I'd just like to add that if I am wrong about Paul Phillips and he isn't what I perceive him to be, than I apologize. Maybe because I disagree with his comments I shouldn't openly attack him.

Good for you, Jackal.

Never let it be said that the posters here are not at least relatively evolved.

Nice.

Well, his hair is a different color or style in just about every TV appearance he's had. He made two WPT appearances, winning one, and was at final of that live Fox broadcast (Turning Stone?). Also Championship at the Plaza, as well.

Paul

Are you using flat or threaded mode? The above comment makes me think you're in threaded mode, in which case switching to flat should make things easier to navigate.

Just to add to the other comments, I think your posts on here to date have added immensely to this forum in a short space of time.

I sincerely hope that you never find it necessary to stop posting here or that the moderators ever feel the need to 'yank' one of your posts.

I looked up Paul's RGP post on AA vs a table full of all-ins.

I must say, some of his points were really earth shattering for me. They will change the ways I approach tournaments forever. I used to approach a tournament like a contest, and I needed to make sure I placed as high as possible while avoinding risks that could knock me out, only to move up a place or two.

The key elements I got from his response were these.

1. Time is valuable. Make the plays that maximizes your earning potential.

2. If you get eliminated early, you are now free to move to the next tournament or ring game and make money.

I would really like to see Paul write a book. Not a specific poker strategy book, but something like Poker Nation that would include stories and some poker strategy tossed in for good measure.

If you watch WPT, Paul is the guy who came in second at The Commerce(I think) because of a terrible river call, this is when he still had a full head of hair /images/graemlins/grin.gif. Then I believe in the next season he won an event(not sure which one), but this time he had a shaved head. He seems like a real good player and an overall good guy. I am glad he is here! Same with Annie Duke.

I don't think he is, at least he's not on this list: Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/lists/results.jhtml?passListId=10&passYear=2004&passList Type=Person&searchParameter1=unset&searchParameter 2=unset&resultsHowMany=25&resultsSortProperties=%2 Bstringfield2%2C-numberfield3&resultsSortCategoryName=Name&fromColu mnClick=&bktDisplayField=stringfield2&bktDisplayFi eldLength=2&category1=category&category2=category& passKeyword=&resultsStart=401) but he did sell a dot com business a while back which I guess he made a boat load of money off of. At least that's my understanding, anyone feel free to correct me.
