View Full Version : No tips for bad dealers at Bellagio

08-07-2002, 02:18 AM
More about bad dealers at the Bellagio. Again, I will point out the dealers which I feel are absolutely disgusting. Perry and Chong are always on the top of the list. Chong, for a pig with a small mouth, when she opens her mouth, it is the louders, most irritating sound ever. Her husband is just as bad. Both their attitudes are horrible. Samir is another that doesn't pay attention to the game and expects us to tip him. I myself am a college graduate. Talking to some of these idiots is an event everyone has to attend. Waiting for them to actually form a sentence takes forever. Chong's english is absolutely horrific. A quick rundown on some bad dealers on dayshift now. There's a mexicano by the name of anthony. I will never tip him. I don't care if he pushes me the biggest pot ever, I still wouldn't tip him. He sits there with no smile and expects me to tip him. I played today and this vietnamest dealer by the name of Van dealt. One guy asked him to "Chop" a dollar. Van didn't even say, Thank you. He looked at the player with disgust. Another dealer that did the same was Eddie from jersey city, NJ. When I see a dealer give that "Look of Disgust" when a player asks him to chop, I put him on the permanent stiff list. I will stiff that dealer regardless of the pot. Whenever anyone gives you anything, you say thank you. Penny on swing shift is the queen of that "Look of disgust". I'm surprised she still has a job. It truly makes it easier for me to decide whether or not to tip. For all of you who think I'm on a losing streak and feel that I want to take it out on a dealer, you've got it all wrong. I play there enough where my hourly rate is pretty good. I don't ask for deck changes nor blame the dealer for a particular river card. I'm not superstituous like most of you out there. This is about bad service at the Bellagio poker room by certain dealers, not all. I would like to point out also that I'm "George", for those of you who know what that means, to a great many dealers. I would like to point out those dealers now. Husband and wife Sharlene and Jim, Allegra, Tan, Linda, Shirley, Mei, Jim from Greece, Paula, and Jill. These dealers perform their job daily with professionalism. Minimal mistakes on the game and very courteous. Always smiling. Susie Lederer should give these dealers a commendation because they are good for the Bellagio poker room. I hope she gets a chance to read this and know which are her bad employees and which are her outstanding ones. For the bad ones listed above, I've already written up one of them and would not hesitate to write up more. One of these dealers should be fired to made an example of, just so they shape up and straighten up their act.

You find fault with the dealers who are left after years of "Chop it it dealer"?

Who do you think will replace them?

Who do you think will replace them? This is Las Vegas. Mindless dealers are a dime a dozen. There will be plenty of people who would be appreciative of having a job at Bellagio. Get rid of the rotten apples and make way for better people who deserve a job such as that. Get people who are more customer service oriented. Don't hire people that are spoiled in the business because the corporations that run vegas now don't care about a low-life dealer that is never satisfied. It's just a few that ruin it for the rest of the room. Some work hard and deserve a good toke. The others are horrific and deserved to be fired. Believe me, I will help in that area of them being out the door. I would have no remorse for the fired dealers. I don't feel that after tipping them 50 cents, I should have to look at their ugly face of Disgust. They should be fired. Simple as that.

.50 is a reasonable toke. Some will give more and a few will give less or nothing.

.50's from some and 1.00's from some and a few more lavish tips on occasion, plus casino pay and benefits makes a decent living wage or even better.

Should a restaurant waitress give a look of disgust on sometimes finding a 10% tip instead of a 20% tip, or a 12% instead of 18%?

Tips are not entitlements. Decent tips are a decent thing, and .50 is not an indecent amount. It adds up for both the receiver and the donor on a regular basis.

Most dealers deserve tips, but there are few who do not. And some dealers deserve better tips than others.

A college graduate? Your alma mater should be ashamed of the education, or should I say lack thereof, that you graduated with. Your spelling is worse than a third grader's and your ignorance .. well that's just ageless.

Do me a favor..I am going to be in vegas soon. Wear a lil skunk pin on the front of your dirty t-shirt. I'd like very much NOT to meet you.

I hope you keep writing about your "stiff list". It really shows how little of a life you really have. Let me spill it to you from another point of view. I am a dealer and I have never gotten any complaints, but for you cheap bastards out there, well I have special treatment for you. I will overrake your pots, I will go out of my way not to deal you in if you are so much as standing up, and believe me one of these days when you overlook a hand (and everyone does) I will laugh my ass off as I push it the other way. These are but a few of the many things that will be done to you. I can give a rats ass if you want to tip or not. I make plenty without your lousy .50 cents and please don't insult some of us that really are college students, it is quickly apparent from your writing you are not . I will be finishing my masters degree soon enough (because that's what it will take for me to find a job that pays more then what I make currently) and as soon as I do, well buddy you can keep your pathetic little poker world. In all my life I never imagined I would meet such a disgusting, petty, angry little group like the ones that exist in the poker "community". Wake up man, these people could care less what you or any of these other rats think. That goes for the casino as well. To prove it, next time you are at the Bellagio ask when was the last time they fired a dealer. Nobody cares, face it and please find a life.

While I felt the original poster was very negative and went over the top, I agree with his point about this attitude. I dont like it when dealers act ungrateful when I give them a $0.50 tip or ask them to chop a dollar.

FOr someone who averages $20 an hour playing B&M poker those tips add up. Lets say he plays 40 hands an hour, and wins 4. Now, he tips $1.00 as opposed to $0.50. Thats an extra $2.00 an hour or a 10% pay cut.

Yes, the tip is insignificant compared to the $300 pot he just won, but if you understand the underlying economics of the situation, tips are a pretty large expense.

"I will overrake your pots"

How do you know the stiff will win? You are cheating for the house and the house should fire you for it.

"one of these days when you overlook a hand (and everyone does) I will laugh my ass off as I push it the other way."

This is cheating/theft.

"I am a dealer and I have never gotten any complaints"

Very surprising given the willingness to essentially run a snatch game or cheat against a player you dislike.

Look, a lot of poker players are jerks. You know it better than I do. But your attitude and willingness to cheat are horrible. I tip reasonably, but I would never tip a dealer who would do what you say you will. I hope you are just going through a phase and improve your attitude. You don't appear to understand the cost of tokes to regular players or the value of regular players to your earn, even if they stiff or ask you to chop. Maybe your attitude will improve as you mature and go on to other endeavors. You will find life more pleasant then. The funny thing is that you have the same feelings as the poker players you don't like. You live in the hell they do that makes them such jerks. Joke's on you.

BTW, I thought the original poster overreacted and I think he was unduly harsh. But a dealer with your attitude would be on MY stiff list in a minute.

i can't imagine why a dealer would have a look of disgust, when they get to deal to cheap, bitter, gambling degenerates all day, who try to maximize all their wins by chopping a dollar for a tip.

why don't you tell us about all the waitresses you stiff because they work their asses off and don't feel like smiling once in a while.

or you could just play poker and have fun, and not announce to the world your tipping habits.
