View Full Version : New AC poker room

Heard a rumor at the Taj which I heard again independently at the Trop this weekend. Rumor is that there is going to be a higher-limit only ($20-40+) poker room with 27 tables at the new Borgata hotel when it opens next year. Anyone else hear this rumor? True? If so, any opinions on whether this will be a great idea or a terrible idea -

Seems strange to me...

The Taj is the only place to play high limits in AC. Tough to pull people away.

However, Foxwoods used to get all the big games. Up goes a hotel at Mohegan Sun and we are off to the races 300-600 twice a week and so on.

But... I'd love to play in a new room which caters to 20/40+

poker players like to be around thegame and environment. by limiting the stakes the high players may not hang around when there is no game, and wait to start one. thats doom for any room. poker rooms need feeder games and smaller games where the next higher limit player can play waiting for whatever he or she wants. i think it wil be a bust for them.

I heard there is going to be 2 poker rooms. The one you described and a lower limit room. I hope they do have poker as it will probably put Trop under (if they aren't gone by then anyway). It seems logical though, look at their other properties having quality poker.

I hope they train the dealers well. Many of the AC dealers are horrible.

why would a casino host only 20-40+ games??

A casino's main revenue comes from the small limit games......so why not have many of those?

Just doesn't make sense to me......I could be wrong.

Are you the young lawyer that plays with Joe Mac?

I saw it in PRINT, which I believe is accurate. Borgata will have a poker room. I saw nothing about action being restricted to 20/40 and above. They could do something like that on weekends, but it be unprofitable to do so, during the entire week.
