I received this email from Pokerstars today. It is nice, but it makes you wonder how many times and how much money it can cost you without anyone getting caught.

Hello,

Protecting the integrity of our games is of paramount importance at
PokerStars and we have a number of procedures in place to insure that our players enjoy fair games. In the course of these activities we became aware of a team of players who appeared to be using unscrupulous tactics which put other players at a disadvantage.

The players' accounts were closed and their funds frozen pending a
thorough investigation, which is now complete. The investigation
confirmed that these player were in fact working in together to the
detriment of our honest players. Fortunately the activity was detected early. We have now completed calculations to determine the amount taken unfairly and the share due each player who was adversely affected.

We work hard to police our games and prevent such activity. In the rare cases where collusion has actually occurred, we make every effort to see that any players affected are "made whole" again. To that end a credit has been applied to your account which reflects your share of the distribution. To confirm that you have received the credit, log into you PokerStars account, go to the 'Cashier' screen and click the 'History' button. You should see your credit as a transfer to your account from 'Acct. Credit' in the last 24 hours.

We are well equipped to protect the integrity of our games and we do not abide cheating or collusion of any kind. The players involved have been barred from our poker room.

Thank you for your continued play here on PokerStars. Please do not
hesitate to let us know any time you have questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

SteveW

That's good to read. Could you imagine Party doing this? Um, no.

Maybe I missed it, but was this ring game play or tournaments?

Actually, to Party's credit, they once credited my account with $84 as a reimbursement for collusion. They provided me with a similar e-mail (no specifics) but I'm sure I could have gotten more information if I ask. I think they do police their games.

Congrats to PokerStar's for watching out for their players! Too bad Pacific Poker doesn't have similar management. I think there has been a mistake. That $324 was supposed to be from Pacific Poker and addressed to Catfish4U.

Thank you,

Just waiting for one of the "Internet Poker is Rigged" theorists to come along and say ......... "Well, all the sites do that from time to time ...... it makes them look good and people stop thinking about all the site-embellished flops, turns and rivers for a few days.

Actually, that's pretty impressive.

Next you're going to tell me they have people who can speak English answering the mail...
