Atlantic City B/M weekend NL $1/2 game, Min buyin=$60, Max=$300. Cashed in for $150, which was "won" money from the previous day's session. Here's how the hand went down.

I'm in LP with KK. Early position player, "JUST SAT DOWN" calls $2 BB. Mid position player, "EXTREMELY LOOSE", makes it $10. Folded to me, I raise to $35. JUST SAT DOWN calls $33. EXTREMELY LOOSE folds (DAMN! He's the one I wanted!)

Flop: 8c 9c 3h.

JUST SAT DOWN bets $15. I raise all-in (approx $118).
Called.
"You probably have me beat," he says.
"I only have Kings."
"Well, you're winning, but I have outs."
"Flush Draw?"
"No."

Turn: [8c 9c 3h] 9s

River: [8c 9c 3h 9s] 8 or 3 (two pair on board).

Flips his 9 and apologizes.
"Sorry man - I thought you were bluffing."

So... I might have done one of two things wrong. (Or both):
(1) My raise to $35 wasn't enough. I think it was, considering that I wanted to isolate Mr. Loose and have him pay me off. I didn't expect EP player to call, but when he did, I didn't mind, I knew I was winning at this point.

(2) My all-in bet was probably way to much, and looking back, it screams: I'm buying the pot. But, with the flush possibility on board, I wanted to destroy his pot odds in calling. With top pair, 9's, he called with NO hesitation. When he called, I thought he definitely hit a set.

Q9o. Nice. This adds to my theory that online poker is RIGGED! NOTE: This hand took place in a B/M casino.

Post your comments on my horrible play. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Are you joking or being serious, I cant really tell? You did nothing wrong, your opponent is terrible and he drew out on you, end of story.

P.S. Your all-in raise is fine, its maybe a little more than a pot-sized raise, and if it screams "Im buying the pot" all the better, you want weaker hands to call. You will win this hand 80% of the time.

"it screams i'm buying the pot"

If I could convince someone with top pair that I'm trying to buy the pot when I actually have an overpair, I'd raise all-in every time. I would have raised less, just to keep him in. Get one of those tracking chips and place it on him.

You played fine, don't post bad beat stories because people either:

1: Are happy you lost
2: Don't care.

You owe me $1

This is b/c the bad beat police seem to be on vacation.

I thought I played it fine ... just wanted some thoughts on the raises and how much they were.

I personally don't think you played the hand well at all. It only would have been a good play if you had known what he had, and if you had known he'd be dumb enough to make such a bad bet. You knew neither. My thinking in the situation would have been:

He probably has a pocket pair or over cards. That's why he called my large pre-flop raise. The only way he's going to call an all in bet is if:

A) He's matched up trips on the flop
B) He's a retard (which turned out to be the case)

Otherwise he's going to fold.

You put yourself in a lose/lose situation. You either lose your entire stack, or risk your entire stack to win a pot that could have been bigger with moderate-sized raises and bets.

He has 6 outs. This is not insignificant. He will spike like 20% of the time yes?

6/44 (approx) x 2

Of course, he won't win every time he spikes, but I am just saying its not shocking when he does win.
