European Poker Championships to be screened on Chnl 5 (UK)

Read in this months outside edge magazine that the European Championship/Open is being televised on terrestrial TV in the UK on channel 5.

Its sponsored by party poker so this should hopefully add some more equity to the poker boom.

At present all Poker in the UK is shown on subscriber only channels,(SKY TV) or digital.

Poker is BOOMING in the uk and this development hopefully can be both symptom and cause of the future development of the poker explosion.

Party are running sattelites for it at the moment.

Pacific are running a UK TV tournament as well not sure what channel that is going to be on.

On another forum they were saying that the WPT programmes on Challange were getting on average 1.3 million viewers (not sure if they add together all the repeats).

There is talk of LNP coming back (the company doing Celebrity Poker club used to do it) if that came back on Channel 4 with a 9/10 pm start it would move poker on even more.

Now if only the UK casinos would embrace poker (and spread limit) then the boom could really gather strength.
