I thought that I got paid off pretty well for this set, but should I milk it more?

I'd only bet around 300-400 here.. let someone loose with KJ or AT chase his "6 outs".

The only real danger is the backdoor flush, say T /images/graemlins/spade.gif 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif or 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif (I'd think A /images/graemlins/spade.gif 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif would raise the flop). Then again, someone with top pair and a flush draw probably isn't going anywhere.

By overbetting here, you get quite a few hands that are drawing dead to lay down, many of which might have called a smaller bet.

I'd milk it a bit more. Underbet the pot a bit, maybe half your stack or less, and give them the opportunity to make a bad call and chase their weak draws. This board isn't too scary.

Not horrible but the board was pretty safe.

One thing i try and do when i have a big hand is play like I do when I am bluffing at the pot and then slow down and it feels so obvious I was bluffing. Works well against relatively aggressive people.

That is, flop the set. Bet after flop. Then check the turn and raise all in if turn is bet. Works even better if you bet preflop.

Yes beware of giving free cards to str8 and flush draws. It really depends on context, but....

When u have a great hand sometimes it is great strategy to bet in a style that a stealer would follow.
