Short-handed, do you always open UTG with a raise?

Hi,

I am referring to 5-handed or 6-handed short handed games (3/6,5/10,10/20) in particular. I'm not exactly sure what is the best style, but I suspect different strategies may work for different people. Do you always open UTG with a raise? (say, marginal hands like QJo, 66, 77, t9s, etc)

I voted for the 3rd choice, but its really pretty rare for me to limp.

I'm basically an always open for a raise kind of guy, but sometimes if the table is super loose-passive I might start sneaking in with hands like JTs or 66 expecting a multiway pot.

I said 100% 'cos it is MUCH nearer to 100 than 80.

I am still fairly new to this but I have had tables that have stayed with the same players for an hour or more and I see that an UTG raise NEVER wins the blinds and that there is rarely an "isolation" raise (apart from me) if anyone limps in early.

In these very rare games, I will limp with good multiway hands without great high card strength.

For those of you who answered 100%, what is the weakest hand that you'll make this raise with?

I checked the 80% choice, but that's probably low, and that's true for full games as well as short. Of course, I need a better hand to open UTG in a full game.

I voted for the 100%, its actually prob. about 95%.

Like the other's said, if its a loose passive group, then I might limp with 22-55, a suited ace, or Q9s and J10s, but i really hate limping with those hands then watching it get raise behind me and heads up.

BTW Nottom, how much are you limp-reraising. I think i have tried (and whiffed) twice. I just dont see the use for it in the 5-10 that much.
Any opinions from you or anyone else?

I wouldn't limpreraise at 5/10. 10/20 I would though.

I always raise with A9s, A10-AK, 77-AA, QJs, KQ, KJ, and K10s.

Depending on the table, I sometimes come in with QJo, K9s, K10o, A7s+, and 66. It must be a tight table for that though.

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Not nearly as many over-aggressive hacks in the 5/10...
