Making a Dollar Out of 15 Cents

This hand took place about 2 weeks ago at Fort Mcdowell casino in sunny Yavapai Nation (just a few minutes northeast of phoenix). My reads are as follows: CO is an old lady who has apparantly decided to spend here social security check here at the casino since I haven't once seen her fold pre-flop. I have seen her semi-bluff a few hands on the flop and turn, but her bets on the river mean she has at least top, and most of the time an ugly 2 pair. SB has better pre-flop standards, but has called down a lot of hands with middle pairs when there were 3-5 overcards on the board. The rest are just plain fishy. There have been on average 7 to the flop for one bet.

PF: I'll just cut to the chase, I limp and all but one of the other players limp so we're seeing the flop 8 handed for 1 bet.

I think you'd be giving up too much by assuming someone has a FH here, no matter how ugly their cards *can* be. I cap & lead if the river isn't a Q, 7, or 3.

OK, here is where it got dicey. When I watched the old lady call, she did it without hesitating. This is when I started to get that sick feeling.

SB checked, and this is the first time I've ever done this. After capping the turn, I checked the river. CO bet, sb called, and getting 24:1 I had to call.

CO turned over Q3o
SB had K3o
OC-1(all in guy) had 85s for the lower flush.
So I finished second in this hand, which I found out is not really all that great a finish in poker.

Oh well, at least I made it to the final table of the daily tourney that night.
