renting property near strip?

Thinking of spending a fair amount of time in vegas playing poker,instead of staying in a hotel for long periods,could any of you vegas residents tell me if there is much accomodation to rent near the strip and where i would start?

I shall be in town soon to play a few hands with the Babe!
