My son just told me I received a phone call at home from Empire stating I was qualified to play in a free tournament. I thought this sounded suspicious. Anyone else get a similar call? Thanks.

I called empire and they said they had called to inform me that I am part of a special VIP group called royal flush and that I would be receiving some free gifts? Anyone else? Thanks.

I got a call from some online casino today saying they were a sister casino of Party Poker and asking if I wanted to join their site . . . /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sounds very suspicious, why wouldn't they just email you? They are fishing for suckers maybe?

If its Planetluck or Starluck then they are sister casino's, but it still seems odd that they do this over the phone rather than by email.

Starluck are in my good books anyway as I've just had an email to tell me I had been credited with $250 as I've not played there for a while. The only requirement was to wager it once. 10 hands of $25 blackjack later and I have a free $350! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

this is actually kinda topical to a recent discussion.

are you playing under an affiliate? my guess is that you are not.

i recieved a snail-mail invite to an empire 10k vip freeroll a few weeks ago. i had not played there in 2 years. i signed up direct (not under an affiliate)

party/empire is a multi, multi million dollar company. the fact that they are employing non-traditional sales techniques is not suprising. if i were the owners of party, i would hire a boilerroom full of indians to make these sales calls to people who are house accounts. i would ONLY call or snaimail house accounts because if i can get them to start playing again, or playing more, then the company keeps 100% of the juice.

i'm certain that i got that invite because of my absence for 2 years, and i am equally certain that i would have *never* gotten it if i were under someones revenue share tracker.
