button limps
5 see flop
A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifQ /images/graemlins/heart.gif9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif
bb bets, ep fold, ep raise, you 3 bet, button calls, bb folds, ep caps, you call, button calls
turn Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
ep checks, you check, button bets, ep raises
your turn
can this be safely laid down at this point? what if ep called the turn bet rather than raised?
assume you are new to the table.

I'd fold.

Easy fold. You're splitting at best, but much more likely you're losing with very few outs.

I would have folded it earlier than the second queen as I'd have to put someone on AQ from the looks of the betting.

No way anyone is folding this on the flop.

I know in many low-limit and home games 3 pair is considered the holy nuts, but here I think you can safely lay it down.

This is very weak/tight thinking

Ya, my bad.. Read through it again and I guess I wouldn't fold on the flop, but I'd still have a pretty bad feeling about someone having AQ based on the betting before the turn, and would fold for sure on the turn even if the EP had only called, and not reraised.

But hey, that's just me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

My 2 cents (which in fact, isn't even worth that much).

How I'd play would depend mightily on the level of the game, and the level of the players.

If, for example, we're talking a small, micro stakes, with lots of maniacs (on-line?), I'd be tempted to call through.

However, if I had some respect for the raiser on the turn, I'm outta there.
