Quite frankly QJo is one of my most hated, yet sometimes playable hands. I prefer the situation to be quite nice before I venture into the water with it.

What things must be right for you to play this hand?

P.S. Having the stars aligned just so is NOT a plausible answer.

On or very, very, very near the button. For one bet or open raised by me. And not always.

very dependent on table/enemies, but in general: open raise in middle position, call in middle position after a couple limpers, call in late position with one or more limpers.

I recently finished my first month of really careful tracking of my poker results and this is my single biggest losing hand. I plan to play it very very carefully in the future. Hands like QJo, JTo, QTs, and A9o are big losers for me. They just look good and you think they will be good but they end up causing so much trouble. Now I play them in very late position (CO, Button, and in the blinds) and never in raised pots. Hopefully my results w/ them will be better next month.

I make .07BB/hand with QJo over 671 trials. I will never play it in a raised pot except from the BB. I will open raise with it from 4 or less off the button and I will overlimp or raise a limper if he is weak.

my VPIP with it is 33.3% and PFR is 17%.
hope that helps.

QTs is a much stronger multiway hand than the other 3 you mention. You don't need to be nearly as careful with this hand, as long as there are multiple players in the hand.
