First, this is not a put down of Chipco. I'm just trying to get opinions from people if they see any reason to go to them for custom made chips since they have had the price increase.

I,m really itching to buy a custom set of casino style chips. I have seen the ones Tenpercenter & Miksen are getting from chipco so I started looking into their pricing. I was quoted a price of $1.10/chip (price does NOT go down as quantity increases) + $185 per setup. I don't think they charge artwork fee's but cant confirm that 100%, can Miksen or Tenpercenter confirm what they offer artwork wise? For 1000 chips of something like Tens Egyptian set the charge would be (assuming 5 denominations) (5x$185)= $925 + $1100 = $2025 or $2.025/chip

Comparing that to other printers who use chipco chips:

http://www.homepokerchips.com/order.htm
1000 chips at .93 each + $200 artwork + $900 setup = $2030 again $2.03 a chip. but if I up the order to 2,500 chips the price starts going down .06 per chip at 2,500, another .07 at 5000. at 2,500 the price would be .87/chip + $200 artwork + $900 setup = $3275 or $1.31/chip vs. chipco at $1.47/chip. at 5000 the price is $1.02/chip vs. chipco's $1.29/chip.

There is also the chip store at http://www.thechipstore.com/NewFiles/Custom.html who apparently start chips at .90 each. Has anyone else run across any other printers using chipco chips? Or someone not using chipco chips who does custom printing on the Archetype chips?

A good link for comparing sets, custom or not is http://www.homepokertourney.com/chips_charts.htm

I have had a 300 chip order in with thechipstore.com for a while now. I was waiting on a friend to go in with me on it to get the order over 500 chips. The cost was going to be a $50 setup and a $35 low order fee (total for all 3 denoms) all at .90 per chip(this was pre price increase I am pretty sure his prices went up too but the site is not updated).

Anyway my friend cannot decide what he wants on his friggin chips so I am sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

The reason thechipstore is much cheaper is the artwork. If you order the stock art, it you get the outer edge that is consistent across the chips (aside from fill colors) with a consistent middle. The homepokerchips do not have a consistent middle and therefore the art is more expensive.

Anyway, pm me if you have any q about them. I am looking for someone to go in with me on a semi custom order - same custom outer edge (with choice of colors) with diferent centers.

PS Casinocom.com does both chipco and clay (seashell mold).

Chipco did my artwork, and it was included in the $185 per chip setup fee. You were dead on, mine were $185 times 5, $925 total. I got a good deal on chips (Pre-Increase), so I paid .76 per chip. I ordered 7205 chips.

What I've always wondered, is if I provided the art myself, would I still get charged the $185 per design for setup?

Yes - I'm a graphic artist and have designed several chip sets for clubs, charities, and private persons. The art charge does not change if you provide art that is "ready to go"

Blows. Chipco did a good job with my art though, with limitless revisions. Can't complain.

As I understand it they charge you $199 for the first set-up and $175 for each unique graphic there after. There is of course a seperate charge for artwork. I tried to log into their free "member area" but it just keeps reloading the sign-in page, thats a little frustrating. I will have to contact their support.

I did cold call (pun intended) someone who was listed on their site as a customer. The guy just happens to be about a 25 minute drive from location, this looking someone up on the internet thing is a little scary. Anyways the guy is real happy with chips, recomended them highly.

At 6000 chips I dont think the cost of the artwork is the biggest factor, though i wouldnt mind saving a few hundred by doing the work myself. I do plan to do the artwork myself even though I'm not a graphic artist. Mostly I just dabble and have friends in the industry. Looking for something unique and to have as many revisions as I want with full creative control. I'm not a control freak.... really I'm not.

When do you expect your chips to arrive Ten?
