Can anyone give me a better way to play this hand? No read on MP2.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T/images/graemlins/club.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif. CO posts a blind of $1.
<font color="666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 raises</font>, <font color="666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 caps</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) J/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 3/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="blue">(2 players)</font>
<font color="CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="CC3333">MP2 raises</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 6.25 BB
<font color="green">Main Pot: 5.75 BB, won by MP2.</font>
<font color="green">Pot 2: 0.50 BB, returned to MP2.</font>

Could have called the raise on the flop, and seen the turn card, but with both a jack and an ace out there, the fold was not a horrible play.

Am I reading this right in that he raised you on the flop for 1/2 of 1 small bet, thereby putting him all-in and you folded????

If so, I think that saving 1/4 of 1 BB is a little..... how should I say????? WEAK TIGHT???

I'm I'm reading this wrong, let me know what I'm missing here......

If I'm right, and you folded for $.50 on the flop, you should have check-folded the flop in this case....

I should have read the entire post. Bad fold for $.50.

I don't think he was all-in... I would've called for sure if he was.

Lemme double check....

Villain had another $154 in his stack. Not sure why the post read like that.

I really don't mind check/folding this flop.

btw. easy fold to the raise. no odds to chase anything and you don' want to have to pay 2.5 BB just to see that your TT is no good.

It's because your flop bet was called and the chips he raised with weren't in the pot yet. When you folded, he got to take them back, hence the "side pot". Picture it on a real table and it'll be easier to understand.

You're fine folding this here. I think you're behind enough reasonable hands that would cap to toss this one into the muck.

Maybe the more experienced players will have a more accurate account but in my brief 4000 hands I have become keenly aware of players that are on very short stacks and are trying to get all their chips in a pot. My conclusion is that they are very very often holding complete crap. I wouldn't have folded in this case.

Especially if they've been at the table for a decent amount of time. I think it's a case of "I'm almost out of chips, I didn't hit tonight, I think I'm about done playing, I'll just put it on auto raise and hope for the best...."

If he's not all-in and has chips left, I like the way you played it and I do the same.
