Randy Johnson has started 29 games, pitched 202 innings, has 242 strikeouts, a WHIP of 0.87 and an ERA of 2.71 which leads the mayors. He is 12 and 12. Man, do the Diamondbacks suck. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Johnson would easily be a 20 game winner if playing for almost any other ball club.

I think Randy is 41 so how many more years does he have left. More than two? Is Four stretching it?

I was stats the other day and was wondering how they compare to Jason Schmidt's and the other NL Cy young candidates. I know the wins are going to be less, but is everything else similar? I have been to busy to actually look this up myself. He is on my fantasy baseball team and it seems like everytime he starts he gives up 1 or 2 runs and loses which sucks.

In regards to your question, I think he could still play for 3 or 4 years, but if he doesn't get traded why would he want to?

I don't know about baseball but he has many years left to break some hearts with those devilish good looks

I would give him two years. I think next year he will be alright and then the year after that he will be oft injured.

To bad he's on the D-Backs, but then again he is a total douche bag so I guess thats what he gets for demanding to be traded only to the Yankees.

And for completely quitting on the M's before being traded to Houston and suddenly regaining his edge

yup, although he is still pitching very well right now for the D-Backs. Maybe he is trying to be traded through waivers? I really hate this man.

The waver deadline is passed and nobody added to any roster after yesterday isn't eligible for the post season rosters

why do you hate him?

hate may be to strong of a word, more like greatly dislike.
reasons:
1. He demanded to be traded while he was in Seattle, and while that was going on he claimed to be injured and pitched horribly going 9-10 with a 4.33 ERA(this is in 98), then after he is traded he goes 10-1 with a 1.28 ERA with Houston. Enough said.
2. He demands to be traded from the Diamondbacks and will only go to the Yankees, which essentially meant that the D-Backs would have to give up Johnson for practically nothing, because the Yankees had nothing to offer but aging vets.
3. He is an ugly mutha, and a bird killer.

Top ten in Majors by ERA

R. Johnson 2.71
A. Leiter 2.77
J. Schmidt 2.78
T. Hudson 2.84
O. Perez 2.87
C. Zambarno 2.94
C. Pavano 2.99
B. Penny 3.02
B. Sheets 3.03
J. Santana 3.06

Schmidt and Pavano are tied at 15-5 for best records.

R. Johnson has by far the most strikeouts. Both Sheets and Schmidt have a hair over 200 strikeouts.

Santana at 15-6 has 213 strikeouts.

Sheets has pitch 188 innings and only walked 24 batters. He has a 9-10 record. He must play for a D-backs like team. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Unfortunately, his lack of run support has clouded this, but he is having one his three best seasons ever in 2004. I see no reason he can't be, at worst, a 3.5 ERA, 1.2 WHIP type of pitcher for the next four seasons.

I think what's happened to Brandon Webb has been even more sad than Randy Johnson... Webb is currently 17th in the NL in ERA, and his record is 6-14!! There are only two other pitchers ahead of him (Glavine & Clement) with lower ERAs and losing records, but their records are only 2 and 3 wins below under .500, respectively. Being EIGHT games under .500 with an ERA that good should be a crime.

Even worse, he plays for a Brewers-like team.
