Playing in $20 tourney on stars. I had been playing great, then lost one really big hand where someone caught a gut-shot straight draw on the river and reduced my stack to about 1/3 its original size. A couple of hands later, this happens:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (9 handed)
SB (t2080)
Hero (t2387)
UTG (t7711)
UTG+1 (t1340)
MP1 (t2171)
MP2 (t2265)
MP3 (t3937)
CO (t3985)
Button (t2645)
Preflop: Hero is BB with K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, A/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls t200, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO raises to t1200, Button folds, SB folds, Hero raises to t2387, UTG+1 folds, CO calls t1187.
Flop: (t5074) 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
Turn: (t5074) 6/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
River: (t5074) 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
Final Pot: t5074
Results in white below:
Hero shows Kd Ah (three of a kind, sixes).
CO shows 9c 9h (full house, sixes full of nines).
Outcome: CO wins t5074.
Now I had to give him credit for medium pairs up to JJ. Any time someone makes a raise like that, I view it that they don't want to get called. The thing is, I knew it was a race and I was a slight dog. I also knew he wasn't gonna fold. Now should I have let this one pass? I was playing really well and negated what I was doing by going for a coin flip. Does anyone else fold here? Hands like this keep me from doing well in tournaments.
