I've been accused of overplaying middle pocket pairs. Comments please.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, Hero calls, Button folds, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 2/images/graemlins/club.gif, T/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, MP2 bets, Hero raises, SB folds, BB folds, MP2 calls.

Turn: (4 BB) 2/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets, MP2 calls.

River: (6 BB) 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets, MP2 calls.

Final Pot: 8 BB

Results in white below:
MP2 shows Qc Ks (one pair, twos).
Hero shows 8s 8h (two pair, eights and twos).
Outcome: Hero wins 8 BB.

In that hand, you played it well. I put MP2 on Ace-high. With only one overcard and no large aggression shown pre/post-flop, I'll play that hand exactly like you did. Nice hand.

Of course it's player dependant, but I suspect the river bet is wrong more often than not. I'd be interested to hear what others think. ... otherwise, I like it plenty.

Looks fine to me. Don't let the man get you down, trying to say you overplay mid pocket pairs.

How could that river bet be wrong? I bet for value here every day, and twice on Tuesdays. You got called down with K high; how wrong can betting against opponents like this be?

I would have raised coming in - that would have changed the whole flavor of the hand. I'll raise down to 77 even 2 off the Button.

MP2 does not bet then and a scare card hits I bet and watch people fold. I can then see who HAS that scare card. Then I can probebly get free cards the rest of the way.

I think you UNDER played it pre flop.

I would raise pre-flop.

Bet the flop if checked to me, raise the flop if bet to me, probably fold to a 3-bet depending upon reads.

Definately see the river if I'm heads up on the turn.

I like your play but I would have raised pre-flop.
