Say you are playing 15/30 full ring game and are on the Button or Cutoff. Mason Malmuth is sitting on you immediate right, and raises preflop when he is the first player in. You know perfectly well that he would try to steal with a weak hand in this position.
What quality must your hand be to stop him? Consider that you play well yourself, or at least you think you do.
Is there much difference in strategy when you are on the button vs. the cutoff? I haven't taken the last players in to consideration here. I would guess that if someone did call or reraise your three-bet they would likely have a premium set of starting cards.
