Is it possible to be one if you have a criminal record?

If so where do they draw the line?
(or do they)

I am certain that a criminal record is a prerequisite.

Heck, you can get a Secret security clearance with a criminal record (http://www.defenselink.mil/dodgc/doha/industrial/2004.html), so why not become a dealer? That said, the Nevada Gaming Commision has a lot of strange regulations. There's lots of language in the NGC regulations about how the commission can do what they want if they think someone does something to "tend to discredit the State of Nevada or the gaming industry."

You need a gaming license to work as a dealer. There's a page on the gaming.nv.gov site that details the criteria for denial (http://gaming.nv.gov/documents/pdf/ger_denial_criteria.pdf) of a Gaming Employee License. Basically, no cheating or larceny within the last ten years, you can't be too unsavory, no mob members, fun stuff like that. Drunk drivers and child molesters are, apparently, welcome. Related statutes (http://gaming.nv.gov/stats_regs.htm#stats) can be found online.

I also suggest checking with the dealer schools in Vegas; there's a handful, and I'm sure they could answer any specific questions.
