I didn't have much in the way of reads, but the general play for a flop caller here is to try to pick up the pot on the turn when the preflop raiser shows weakness. Do you like this? Or would you have simply bet the turn?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed)

Nothing wrong here IMO, I like this just fine. BTW, no bonus points for having an even number of chips (1250, 1000... /images/graemlins/grin.gif)

The only problem w/ this is that a decent player might pick up on the fact that you just turned two pair. You don't want him folding 9T but at the same time you want to charge the OESD. I might just bet the turn and re-raise if he raises. If he just calls I push the river.

I didn't realise there were two clubs as well. I def. bet the turn in this case.

I like the play if he is an aggressive player and you know he will bet. Against a passive fish who will call you down with a top pair I would bet for value. Once he does bet though I would push. If he is on the str8 or flush draw you need to get all the money in now because if he misses he wont pay off. You are a heavy favorite against the draws and there are plenty of players who will call an all in with that. Take all their money.

I dislike being sneaky unless I have a monster. I have tried it, and it gets me in more trouble then its worth.

The clubs scare me, and because of them alone I dont play like this. Co having QJ isnt exactly unlikely either.

The CR/Bet thing is simply about playing your opponent. How aggresive is he? What's he thinking? That said, both plays work, though, without a read, I probably push too.

I forgot to mention that this was a $50 sng, so it's going to tend to play a little bit more tight and aggressive at this level. Had it been a $10 sng, I probably would just push the turn.

Also, yes, I was pretty certain that he would bet the turn regardless of his hand. Add to that the fact that I was pretty sure I had the best hand, and I decided to check-raise rather than bet.

He folded and I won a pretty nice pot.
