These hands happened in succession.

#1 SB is very loose preflop and is one of those guys who if he limps in, will call just about any reraise. So, I have no clue what he has.

Very next hand...
I'm pretty short-stacked after the last hand took a chunk of change off me. Should I push on the flop? There's a decent amount of money in the pot. How else could/should I have played this

I would raise more in both cases. If people will call with some weak hands (QT) then get as much in preflop as you can before they miss the flop. You also probably want to thin the field if possible. If the SB will call with QT there is nothing you can do on this hand. Just take solace that most of the time you will take him out.

In both hands preflop you should be raising more, allthough there could be a case for just checking the AK hand in the BB and seeing a flop. If you are going to raise both hands you have to make it much much larger. I have a "rule" of sorts in the early parts of SnGs that has given me quite a bit of success. Note: I do not always go by this rule, if the situation dictates I do something else I will. Generally early in these SnG's like the 10/15 or 10/20 whichever it may be my raise ( not in the blinds ) is to 75. I usually raise to 100 if there are many limpers. When the limits go up I move to my 3x-4x BB raise and when the blinds are very large Its anywhere from 2.5x-3x-4x the BB.
