Yes this is -EV for all of us, yet it should be fun and will give the winner a lot of braggin rights around here.
The idea is $500 buy in. Say 10 of us play, we all play HU 50bb limit matches twice against everyone, winner takes all. Unless we get 20+ people in which we can work out some payment structure and amomunt of games.
At the moment, stars support are trying to help us in getting this going in which case it will be a $500 + $50 league. Still with 50bb stacks no increase in blinds.
IF. stars doesn't come through i myself have no problem transferring my $500 to a 3rd party 2+2er to hold and then pay out to the winner at the end of the league. I'd be happy for people like ElDiablo, InThaCup etc to hold it even if these players were involved too. Then we go play these games in fake money and report the result. Hand histories of the hands will have to be supplied after the HU match.
Anyhow, at the moment stars just wants to see if we have people behind this. So just leave a 'i'm in' and suggestions.
I'll move any next threads to a different forum.

I think the best idea is to use a 3rd party to hold the money. There is no reason to enrich Pokerstars.

agreed, no need to give pokerstars needless money...
im in...it'd be nice to try some of this so-called skill against people i KNOW are far better than i /images/graemlins/smirk.gif
the only problem could be scheduling and time conflicts...if they are too burdonsome then i may have to drop...but i want to play as many of these 50bb matches as possible...

That could be a problem. This kind of thing was discussed before the HULA league. Someone, I believe Mike Haven, pointed out that the sites will would be very unhappy about it and potentially close the players accounts. I don't really remember the details, but you should probably look into it just in case.

Yep.
Regardless though, if we do the money transfers on stars they will have no problem with it at all. We could use party's/paradise's fake money tables after that. OR we could use paypal for the transfer.

No. I feel the same way as mike l.
Given that we're not trying to make this financially worthwhile for any of us why not make the buyin a little smaller. For $100 I'd definetly be in. For $500 I'd likely play too, but $100 would be better IMO.

You guys are just demonstrating why it has to be $500. The league becomes to unwieldly with 100 people in it.

I have no intention on doing this for any amount of money, but i totally agree it cant be just 100. But it also seems you might have trouble finding enough people for 500. You might want to consider a less rounded number, one that will get enough people but stil keep it in the style you are aiming for, maybe 350.

I'd love for people like yourself for to be in it and i'm willing to change it if it means you and ike play. However i'd also like this to be a 10 - 20 player league in which after you've played for 2 hours of fake money on 3/6 you don't get bored and think '[censored] it, it's only $100'.
It's not a -EV idea for everyone and the people it is it's nothing more than $100 for 20 games against the best of the best. I'd happily lose $100 to mike l/eld/clark/gabe/coilean.
But, it's not going to run at $500, $100 it is.
edit: how about the top players get staked? :P

I'm in, if there's room for my $500 (or $100) donation. I think if we can get 10 players to play for 500, the league will be contested a bit more, so I vote for that.

the point is you can keep it smaller ... make it 100 and too many people will join...
but knowing that you even attempted to play 8 tables at the same time and knowing you buy in for 1500 makes me think you have 500 to spare and gain the knowledge and experience playing against folks like jay and jtg would give you.
