I was in a 10 single table SNG and the following hand came up.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (10 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

saw flop|<font color="C00000">saw showdown</font>

MP2 (t60)
MP3 (t955)
<font color="C00000">Hero (t770)</font>
Button (t500)
SB (t1815)
<font color="C00000">BB (t815)</font>
UTG (t1075)
UTG+1 (t465)
UTG+2 (t785)
MP1 (t760)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, J/images/graemlins/club.gif.
<font color="666666">1 fold</font>, UTG+1 calls t30, <font color="666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="CC3333">Hero raises to t150</font>, <font color="666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="CC3333">BB raises to t375</font>, UTG+1 folds, <font color="CC3333">Hero raises to t770 (All-In)</font>, BB calls t395.

Flop: (t1585) K/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 7/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 9/images/graemlins/diamond.gif <font color="blue">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

Turn: (t1585) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="blue">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

River: (t1585) A/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="blue">(2 players, 1 all-in)</font>

Final Pot: t1585
<font color="green">Main Pot: t1585 (t1585), between Hero and BB.</font> &gt; <font color="white">Pot won by BB (t1585).</font>

Results in white below: <font color="white">
BB shows Qs Qh (one pair, queens).
Hero shows Jd Jc (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: BB wins t1585. </font>

I felt pretty stupid after the hand ended. It seems like I way overpushed with the jacks when I really didn't need to. I am so used to any pocket pair 1010 or higher usually being a dominant hand even against all-in moves made by other player at the $10 level that folding didn't seem like an option. However, I would have had some chips, even if I had folded to his re-raise. So, I would like to hear how you would of played this hand.

Thanks!

reraise would set off alarms to me...unless I need to double up I drop JJ

I think the fact the BB re-raised AND didn't push would set off alarms. You have to give him credit for AK, KK, AA or QQ unless you have a read that would tell you otherwise. You're a big dog against 3/4 of those hands and even money with the other. Jacks are tricky.

I agree with Eder and Sam. I think your initial raise is fine, but when you get reraised like that, it's time to throw those Jacks away.

JJ is one of the toughest hands to play for a reraise. i usually fold it if i am not committed, as there are really no hands a reraiser can have that you are a big favorite against, but you can easily be a big dog.

I appreciate all of the replies. I agree with the repliesthat have been posted that would advise laying down the jacks. Jacks are a hand that I have often struggled with, so the more situations I learn from the better!
