View Full Version : Of these people, who is your favorite

By favorite, I mean 'does their announcing job the best, makes watching poker better for their presence, etc.' I'd put Shana Hiatt on the list but then the poll would become meaningless, so think of this poll as 'who's the best AFTER Shana' /images/graemlins/grin.gif

My vote is for Howard.

I second the write-in vote for Howard L.

Third for Lederer. Only a few players in the world outplay Johnny Chan at his best, and only one poker analyst.

He's the reason to watch Late Night Poker.

Hm. I'm sorry about not including Howard, I had never watched FSN until PSI started and obviously Howard is not an announcer for that /images/graemlins/laugh.gif. I would have included those guys too except I forgot their names.

howard is better than all of them as far as explaining what will happen before it happens

he specifically said "of these people" and you got clowns writing in answers.

Who voted for Dave Foley? Seriously, VVP is the "joke" answer. I loved Newsradio as much as anyone, but there's nothing funny about voting for Foley.

Actually, I did. I loved newsradio, and celebrity poker is the only poker show I can sit through (depending on who's on it that night).

Phil Gordon is my favorite, and it's a shame that he has to analyze the play of celebrities who suck, and endure the blathering of Dave Foley as his broadcasting partner. I wish ESPN would bump Norman Chad for him for the WSOP coverage.

I like VVP because he has a name for the players (Dewey Tomko AKA The Phantom). He's the best in my view.

My answer was Chad, because he's a Maryland guy and he's funny as hell. I like gordon, but agree that having to watch that show far outwieghs getting gordon's insites.

My buddy sat with VVP at eh WSOp for awhile and in some of the side games, said he was a great guy and pretty mediocre card player.

count me as another idiot voting for howard. obviously the intent of the poll was to determine the most popular TV poker analyst. that howard was omitted was an oversight, as the pollster has acknowledged.

Hey!? what about Howard--he crushes all of these guys.

As I said in an earlier post, I forgot about Howard because I didn't start watching poker on FSN until very recently. He would be on the list if I had remembered!

Putting Howard on the list makes it too easy of a choice. This is more of a vote for who the 2nd best announcer is.

PukaPlaya

Well then Howard it is... I guess Phil is second but I can't watch that show for more than a few minutes generally.

one more vote for Howard Lederer.

Van Patten is paving the way for the morons learning this game by watching tv. He has them convinced that you would never throw away AJ for all you money. That being said Van Patten gets my vote.

Howard, without question. Excellent analysis, calm, easy to listen to. He's one of the only announcers from whom you can regularly learn something on routine hands.

I'm suprised Norman "The Chode" Chad has so many votes... I can't be alone in thinking those comments he makes aren't funny at all.

Of the listed ones, I went with Sexton.

I know....

watching Phil Gordon host CPT is like watching William Shatner hosting Iron Chef...

(well, sort of inversery like that...you get the point...one of these things way outclasses the other)

Phil Gordon's working for the wrong show, IMO.

WTF is up with people voting for Norman Chad?

Dave Foley should've won this hands down, and if not Dave, then Howard Lederer as a write in.

"Oh, look at this! He's got a real hand! A pair of wired fours! Obviously he'll play this hand, but the question is how is he going to play it Mike? Will he come over the top or just call? This is poker at its best here Mike. Oh wait a second, he folds! What a tight fold by [insert veteran millionaire pro here]. I really don't understand that play."

An exaggeration of course, but this makes the casino low buy in no limit games great.

He is king for referring to an Indian guy at a Foxwoods show as the "Calcutta Cardsmith."

That is the greatest poker nickname in history.

exaggeration? I think you toned him down a bit.

It is for precisely this reason that I love VVP. It's the same reason I love Bill Walton.

Great Post.
