Andy,

Despite your absence, you cost me more money than anyone else there by inventing some sort of crazy game that I could not figure out.

Here's a hand I played of Crazy Fox:

Ten-handed. Gabe open-raises from early middle position, Buzz calls to my right, and I coldcall with JcJd4dQc. I don't remember or care if the blinds called.

Flop: 6c 3d 5c

Gabe bets, Buzz calls, and I called (?). Which card should I discard? I think the worst discard would be the 4. Am I wrong?

no.

I toss the J of diamonds.

Is Crazy Fox like Crazy Pineapple but with 4 cards? I'm assuming a one-card straight is legal, unlike Omaha, so tossing the 4 would be bad.

Do you have to discard again after the turn? That would be interesting.

I would discard the J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Toss 1 after the flop and 1 after the turn. It's sort of Omaha morphing to HE.

nothumb
08-27-2004, 07:31 PM
That's really interesting. It must wreck your odds calculations since you can't have as many back-door draws, combo hands, etc.

I want to know the rest of the hand!

I discarded the jack of diamonds. The board paired on the turn. I lost. The nut flush draw was out, so I would have been better keeping the jacks as far as that goes.

Sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I did no better at Crazy Fox the night we played than you.

FWIW (and I don't think it's worth much), I'd fold to that flop. If I played, I think I'd discard the Qc. Only because it's unlikely anybody else would have a 4 at that point. Of course, if I wasn't sure which card to discard, I certainly wouldn't call the bet. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

"The board paired on the turn. I lost."

this is pretty much how this game is. someone always flops a set and someone else always flops a flush draw and either the board pairs or the flush comes and that's pretty much it.

we were having more fun w/ triple draw 2-7.

Note to self: 6-5-4-3-2 is not a winning hand in Deuce to Seven. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It took me about three rounds of this game to finally figure out that holding onto aces was stupid.

2-3-4-5-7. That's why it's called Duce to seven.

Someone needed to slap you up side the head.
Did you play it limit, PL or NL?

I'd probably play crazy fox like Omaha hi and draw only to the nuts. That being said, I would probably fold the flop.
If you want to get tricky with small non-nut flushes, you could raise the flop and drive out higher flushes that are also non-nut if you think this would work.

Do both hole cards have to play on the river?

El Dukie
08-28-2004, 11:09 AM
Oh, I actually knew that str8s were no good. The problem was that I picked up the str8 6 after the first draw, and only improved to a smooth 10 low. Josh beat me with a raggedy 8 or 9.

andyfox
08-28-2004, 12:49 PM
No. It's hold-em on the river, so you can play both hole cards, one hold card, or play the board.

Sounds like Omaha morphing into crazy Pinapple into hold em.
Sounds like fun. Try it pot limit next time, and see if that spices it up a bit. /images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I was not at your table.

I've never heard of Binglaha, so I hope I didn't play it. Buzz made us play some double Chowaha though. That was too much for me.

DPCondit

Nobody else called it except me, so maybe it didn't hit off too well. People did enjoy the Chowaha though, a number of people started dealing it, and 4 card Chowaha.

Binglaha is Omaha where a dice is thrown AFTER the flop betting to determine whether it is high, or high low, traditionally played pot limit.

Ok, I might be a dumbass, but is this "Crazy Fox" game real? If not, I think it would be extremely fun and interesting. I mean, an Omaha game in which each player must discard one of their hole cards after seeing the flop? Sounds very challenging.

If it's not real, I'm going to get my buddies to play it one time anyway.

El Dukie
08-29-2004, 10:39 AM
It's real. Four cards. Discard one on the flop, one on the turn. Normally played high-only, none, one, or both hole cards play. One variant we tried was high-low with both hole cards playing Omaha-style. Then you've got some additional decisions to evaluate, like trying to guess if your nut low will get counterfeited on the river.

Do you discard before or after the flop/turn betting?
