Loved the way fossilman dealt with the mouth last night on ESPN....Wouldn't even shake his hand....Just responded to his comments by pulling out his notebook and making a note about the mouth! I loved it, just laughed my ass off...

Greg more than likley felt he was getting to him with his aggressive play. Iam sure there where alot of hands that we didn't see where Greg had been running him over.

Its a classic adolesent reaction to fear, or intimidation, to make a loud insulting outburst. I would say if you don't have "The Mouth" yelling at you, you are playing too weak against him.

Ok...for those of us in the great white north who won't see any of these broadcasts for months, can someone please recap??

Very first time they've shown and identified Raymer in the whole series of broadcasts. He's in a hand vs. Matusow, and makes a laydown in a big pot. Matusow shows his hand, revealing his bluff, and then starts to rant and rave, taunting Greg telling him "you're playing with the big boys now".

Then he explains to Greg how he (Mike) has really big steel balls, and that Greg has much, much smaller testicles.

After this rant, Mike tries to shake Greg's hand, saying he's just kidding. Greg doesn't shake. He then makes some notes in his notebook, to which Norman Chad said "he's writing down Seat 1 is a jerk."

The best part was Greg didn't react, or flinch during the whole thing, like he wasn't even listening. And he had those cool sunglasses on. I think we'll be seeing more of those glasses. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm sure that the "seat #1 is a jerk" rumor is not what he wrote down (though I don't actually know), because a) Greg knows that Mike Matusow is a jerk and b) That's not a particularly +EV (read: useful) thing to write down, if I had to guess it was something more like "The Mouth is looking to bluff me out of big pots with crap, must remember to snap him off" - though again I don't actually know /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I could have sworn I heard Raymer say something like "I'm gonna bust you." or "Keep talkin'; I'm gonna bust you." But I was watching while playing online so it was hard to follow. Are we sure he said nothing? I loved the no-shake and the journal entry! BTW, Matusow was EVEN WORSE when he sucked out on Dewey Tomko's son and screamed "YES! I'm on FIRE!" and did a dance and whatnot. So disgusting.

First of all, it was the announcer, Norman Chad, who was joking about what Greg wrote down, guessing that he wrote, "Seat 1 is a jerk."

As far as I can tell, Raymer said nothing. All of the talking was from Matusow, and then there was a little echoing comment from the railbird sidekick guy (Matusow, after his BS apology attempt, said "he doesn't get the joke," while giggling like a school girl, and then the lacky responds with something like, "yeah, he doesn't get the joke, huh huh huh." Truly pathetic.

The line you're referring to about busting someone was also Matusow. I believe the sequence of Matusow's comments went something like this:

1. That's right! You're not playing with little kids here, you know! (said with a tone that suggests Greg had been bullying the table).

2. You keep playing like that, I'm gonna bust you. (or something to that effect)

3. Something indecipherable, and then "...like steel. I got big, huge balls, and you got tiny, little...etc."

4. Aw, you know I'm just jokin', man (still snickering). Then something like "What's wrong, no sense of humor? (turning to railbird) He doesn't get the joke."

Didn't hear him say anything but I taped it and will check again tonight...Greg's behavior should be a lesson to all of us: Stay focused and don't get off track when people like Matusow mess with you.

I don't know how Greg did it. I think he'd have someone waiting in the parking lot after the event for him if he tried that with me. I was as pissed off as i've been in a long time watching that. And I know Greg wins the freakin' thing! I don't how that could be allowed in any tourney. Matusow is an [censored].
