In a loose game?

In a tight game?

I would raise with ace-jack suited from early position in both games. Ace-jack suited is a strong hand unless the pot has been raised ahead of you. You figure to have the best playing hand and your hand plays well against a large field or a small field. I raise in both cases. I am also happy to win the blind money.

Jim, your answer is fine when AJ is suited, But what if ypu're not suited? I seem to always lose with it. Tough hand in early position

Ace-jack offsuit is a much weaker hand. In tough games, I fold Ace-Jack offsuit in early position. In typical games, I usually limp in with it. I sometimes raise with it from early position if the game is less than 8 players or it is a tight, passive game and my raises are getting a lot of respect.
