5 handed, i don't know how to do the regular hand breakdown that i see here all the time so please just deal with my stupidity.

blinds at 25/50.

utg, and utg+1 limp.

AJdd for me(stack is around 850 preraise) , raise to 175, sb smooth calls (has me covered by about 200 chips), everyone else folds (pot at 500).

89T flop. rainbow with one diamond.

sb checks, i bet 250, sb calls.(pot up to 1k)

turn is a 6d. sb checks, i move in for about 400 more

sb calls with ak, river is a 5 C

and i bust....

in retrospect what would be the proper way to play this hand?

i don't really like having bet meakly on the flop, but i think he would have called a stronger bet as well.

i guess my choices were

1. move in on the flop, get called and die
2. check the flop hope to make my hand for free.
3. Move all in on the turn with the open end straight and flush draw.
4. i have no idea what else i could do with this hand....

any opinions on how this could have been played properly?

also, was i ahead with my draws going into the river vs ak?

lastly, i apologize for not havin the proper format for the hand history.

thanks.

No, you were a 40:60 underdog.

But I'm baffled how he could make this call.

I would raise to about 225-250 preflop, and move in on that flop when the SB checks to me. If he calls with his A-high, so be it.

I would also move in even with your preflop smaller raise.
