View Full Version : Anyone call this strange all-in from a reckless player?

The only note I have on UTG+1 is that, in a blind battle at the 15/30 level, she pushed all-in for 850 more chips from the SB with QJs. So...I know she's capable of making reckless plays. What I don't know is whether she's reckless with only marginal hands, or if she plays her big pairs the same way.

Are Jacks strong enough to call here (at this early stage of the tourney)? If not, what hands do people call this with given the read on UTG+1?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed)

MP2 (t955)
MP3 (t940)
CO (t1195)
Button (t675)
SB (t1822)
Hero (t960)
UTG (t1480)
UTG+1 (t1025)
MP1 (t948)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J/images/graemlins/club.gif, J/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to t1025 (All-In), MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, Hero...?

Is it worth it to find out? 3 hands beat you. If you win, you feel like a genius. If you lose, you feel like a poodle turd. If you wait for a better spot, you feel like a genius, keep your eyes on her, and play on.

PS, if this is a $5, I'd call just to update my notes, if $5 didn't mean anything to me. You said you had one note on her - do you play with this person regularly? If so, that $5 call may be a good investment (or $10, or whatever, you get my point).
