View Full Version : Is it ok to play slightly looser at shorthanded NL tables?

On 10 handed NL my VPIP is still around 20% or so, but on shorthanded tables it jumps to 30%-35% or so.

I tend to limp in with a lot of drawing hands against a loose-passive table, but if it's TAG then I'll stick with only the premium hands. That's what usually raises my VPIP, is this alright?

I only have 3000 hands for SH'ed NL 25 (I know, not a lot), but some of my biggest winners are Die or Taz's (as per Bison's auto-rating icons). Ironically, some of the biggest losers are also Die or Taz's, so perhaps it depends on post-flop play?

i dunno about all this die/taz stuff, but yes, you should be playing more hands shorthanded. you should be pretty tight from UTG - UTG+3 10-handed, which are the hands you're missing by playing 6-handed instead of 10.

you get to open-raise from the CO or button a lot more playing SH, which you should be doing with marginal hands.
